A BBHQ Insta-Quote:

The Pilgrims made seven times more graves than huts. No Americans have been more impoverished than these who, nevertheless, set aside a day of thanksgiving.

This Week with the Chicowitz

The Night Before Thanksgiving

Despite my best intentions, on Wednesday at 4 o’clock in the afternoon... there I was, playing automotive musical chairs in the parking lot at the grocery store. Gees... don’t you people have anything better to do than clog up the store when I am trying to buy my poor dog a Butterball? It was awful!!

The BBHQ Pop Quiz pops up all over BBHQ. Wander around!

Eye Remember... November 21, 1980:

Finally... finally, on November 21, 1980, we found out who shot JR.

With an example of brilliant marketing, the folks at CBS kept us in suspense for 8 months before revealing who shot JR Ewing.

Did they kill him?

Of course not. That would have been an example of marketing suicide!

And now, a word from our sponsor:

It is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favors.

-- George Washington, Thanksgiving Proclamation, 1789

Here's another one that speaks for itself:

And if you have to ask how much it costs... you can't afford it.

The BBHQ Trivia Teaser & Subscriber Evaluation
Here are three questions from the BBHQ cloud:

1. First, our current events question:
OK, if y'all are as fed up with current events as we are (understandably so), feel free to skip this one.

What a week, what a week! Whodda' figured two weeks ago it could ever have happened? So, it's time to take stock. All but one of the following actually occurred last week. Which is the phony headline?

The cast of 'Hamilton' lectured VP-elect Mike Pence when he came to see their Broadway show.
Perhaps his toughest Republican critic, Mitt Romney met and talked turkey with Donald Trump. "No justice, no peace!"
Less than a week after a victory that surprised nearly everyone, the press pummeled President-elect Trump, claiming he was running a slow, messy, and disorganized transition.
Jesse Jackson advised President-elect Trump to pardon Hillary Clinton. "No justice, no peace!"
Rapper Kanye West presented a 40-minute romp during a concert explaining why he supported Donald Trump.
After repeatedly protesting America as a racist and unfair country, SF 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick revealed that he did not vote... he has never voted. Heck, he is not even registered to vot Retiring Democratic Nevada Senator Harry Reid blamed Donald Trump for the post-election violence protesting Trump's election.
In 2013, Democratic Nevada Senator Harry Reid rammed through a rule that makes it harder to block appointments made by President Obama. But last week, facing an opposition president, Re Two students at a San Antonio high school thought it would be cute to perform a skit depicting the assassination of Donald Trump.
Coke-a-Cola introduced a special bottle of bubbly that will take a selfie and post it to Instagram when you tip your head back and indulge.
Ha! Faked you. All of those unlikely things happened last week.
Go on. None of those things happened.

2. OK then. Who did shoot JR?

Sue Ellen Ewing: well, for endless years of abuse, of course
Kristin Shepard: J.R.'s ex-mistress and Sue Ellen's sister, for double-crossing her
Dusty Farlow: Sue Ellen's lover
Vaughn Leland: business partner from whom J.R. had swindled millions
Miss Ellie Ewing: J.R.'s mother, angry for JR's destruction of the family name
Cliff Barnes: J.R.'s brother-in-law and long-time foe of JR
Alan Beam: Political fixer, who had dirt on JR
Marilee Stone: widow of a business associate who had committed suicide
Bobby Ewing: fed up with J.R.'s handling of family business
JR himself; a attempt to garner sympathy with a suicide attempt
George W. Bush: revenge for JR's donation to Al Gore' campaign for president

3. Who was the "man in black"? (And no; it was not JR Ewing.)

Grade our Newsletter: How did we do this week?
      A: Great! Lottsa' fun.

      B: Pretty good.

      C: So-so.

      D: Eh... not so good.

      F: A swing and a miss.

What say you? Comments for the good of the order:

There are no prizes here... it's just for fun.

The BBHQ Joke of the Week
Madam Red Dot selected this one. In addition to providing a chuckle (we hope), this also serves as an example of the importance of proper grammar and punctuation.

I'm not the easiest guy in the world to get along with. So when our anniversary rolled around, I wanted my wife to know how much I appreciated her tolerating me for the past 20 years. I ordered flowers and told the florist to enclose a card that read, "Thanks for putting up with me so long."

When my wife got the delivery, she called me at work.

"Just where do you think you're going?" she asked.

"What do you mean?" I said.

She read the card aloud as the florist had written it: "Thanks for putting up with me. So long."

An strategically placed preposition would have helped, too.

Have a great week. We'll share the fun again next Monday.
