This is George Carlin’s take on ball games. It is wonderful example of Carlin's comic genius.

A Governing Doctrine

The government... not just today, but throughout history... has proved itself to be good at very few things. Our founders tried to restrict the powers of the government to those few things.

But particularly in this "if it feels good, do it" society we have created, politicians play on this "touchy-feely" weakness to garner more power for themselves and thus control the people, and by doing so, limit our freedom.

And, out of a sense of compassion, just for the heck of it, or because of the guilt the politicians has imposed on us, we have allowed the government to attempt... and ultimately fail... at so many things over which it has absolutely no Constitutional duty, ability or purview. It is time to put a stop to this costly, destructive nonsense.

Eye Remember... October 3, 1955:

Eye remember October 3, 1955.... if I really, really stretch my memory. Surely all boomers remember the impact of what happened on October 3, 1955.

Right after Disneyland opened, Walt Disney was looking for ways to promote his new park. His terrific idea was a weekly television program featuring Mickey Mouse, the park, and Disney Characters.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

The BBHQ Bare-Bones Boomer
Assessment Test

After months of tedious development and extensive and exhaustive testing, it is nearly ready to release to the masses. But what our boomer assessment test needs now is more real-life testing.

That's where you come in. This week we encourage you to take The BBHQ Bare-Bones Boomer Assessment Test and evaluate it for us. Surely you can get all 25 questions right. That's a given. But we're particularly interested in how it works for you, and what you think of it. (Behind the scenes, it is far more complicated than it appears to be.)

At the conclusion, you can offer your comments. Grade the test. We'll use your experience and comments to fine-tune the test before we turn it loose on the Internet.

You can give it a good test run here

Thanks.

Yes, they are exactly what they appear to be, genuine Star Trek Spock Socks!

Yes, these are one-of-a-kind, professionally designed, and officially licensed -- whadda' you suppose was going on in George Lucas' mind when he approved these???

And yes, they do include the iconic, unique Mr. Spock ears. (How kind of them to wait until Leonard Nimoy passed on before releasing these.)

Nonetheless, finally... after all these years, you can have your own Star Trek Spock Socks! (Or, you can buy a pair for us. They are certainly near the top of our Christmas wish list!)

Amazon, $9.15 .

Buy them now here.

The BBHQ Joke of the Week
A TV medical reporter asked an elderly lady what her secret to a long and healthy life was.

"For better digestion, I drink beer. If I have appetite loss, I drink white wine. In case of low blood pressure, I drink red wine. For high blood pressure, I drink Scotch. And when I have a cold, I drink schnapps."

"When do you drink water?"

"I've never been that sick."

Have a great week. We'll share the fun again next Monday.
