Hillary's Plan

Recently, the New York Times published a column by Hillary Clinton called "My Plan for Helping America’s Poor." Twelve paragraphs; 773 words.

"Well, good," I thought. I never was able to wade through her web site, and I cannot stand her shrill voice. So I thought this would be a good chance for me to get a basic understanding of one of her policies without all the talking-head blather.

In short, her plan includes these features:

1. investment in good paying jobs
2. affordable housing
3. raise min wage
4. equal pay for women
5. low-income housing credits
6. redirecting federal investments
7. expand access child care, guarantee paid leave
8. double investments in head start program

OK; let's take a closer look at each of those.

Eye Remember... September 26, 1960:

I was just a kid, but I remember the 1st of the 4 televised debates between Vice-President Nixon and Senator John Kennedy on September 26, 1960. It was my "awakening" to politics.

Since I had just been awarded my first family "allowance," I was particularly interested in what the candidates had to say about finance.

"The only conditions under which I would unbalance the budget would be if there was a grave national emergency or a serious recession. Otherwise, with a steady rate of economic growth, I think that we can finance essential programs with a balanced budget if business remains orderly." - Senator Kennedy.

"It is essential that a man who is President of this country certainly stand for every program that will mean for growth . . . but it is also essential that he not allow a dollar spent that could be better spent by the people themselves." - Vice-President Nixon.

I have balanced my budget every year since then. The federal government... not so much.

The BBHQ Bare-Bones Boomer
Assessment Test

The BBHQ Official Baby Boomer Qualifying Exam contains some questions that might stump some boomers. So we're working on developing a series of questions that absolutely every boomer would know the answer, and for which non-boomers would be left behind. Here is another one of our questions:

8. Bob Smith became famous to boomers as a disc jockey on a Mexican radio station that boomers could hear all over the country. Later, he appeared on TV, as the MC at various music events, and, playing himself, in American Graffiti. He was Wolfman ________.

  Jack
  Brucie
  Moondog
  Karl
  Clapfor

Simple enough, huh? What other questions should we ask that would clearly identify a boomer and yet stump the unfortunates masses? Please click reply and give us your ideas.

This week, we offer the most inspired, most original, and most needed gift we have ever presented: the NoPhone:

Yes, it's the original NoPhone, a replica phone for people who are addicted to real phones. Absolutely no wifi, no camera, and no phone.

Absolutely brilliant!

"With a thin, light and completely wireless design, the NoPhone acts as a surrogate to any smart mobile device, enabling you to always have a rectangle of smooth, cold plastic to clutch without forgoing any potential engagement with your direct environment."

From the developers:

How did you come up with the idea for this product?
After seeing someone use a selfie stick.

What makes your product special?
The NoPhone is completely toilet bowl resistant.

What has been the best part of your startup experience?
Putting plastic rectangles in cardboard boxes and shipping them to paying customers.

Amazon, $10.00 . Buy it here.

The BBHQ Trivia Teaser & Subscriber Evaluation
Here are three questions from the BBHQ cloud:

1. First, our current events question:
Can we focus on anything other than the election for a second week in a row? Once again, "Yes, we can!"
There are about 320 million people residing in the U.S. About how many immigrants have come to the U.S. (legally and otherwise) since 2000?
      5 million (2% of the U.S. population)
      25 million (8% of the U.S. population)
      45 million (14% of the U.S. population)
      65 million (20% of the U.S. population)
      320 million (100% of the U.S. population)

2. Here's a question derived from the BBHQ Great American Civics Quiz. (And yes, it is, indirectly, about the election. But it's really about civics.) There are 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. How many of those seats are subject to re-election this year?
      half of them
      a third of them
      two thirds of them
      none of them
      all of them

3. President Gerald Ford introduced the country to WIN buttons. What did "WIN" stand for?

The BBHQ Joke of the Week
Details on the Original NoPhone

The NoPhone makes the perfect gift for anyone who uses their phone too much or for the wrong reasons. Do you have a son who never calls you? Give your son a NoPhone. Do you have a friend who won't stop texting his ex-girlfriend? NoPhone. Creepy uncle won't stop commenting on Facebook post? Give that Uncle two NoPhones. Almost everyone knows at least 10 people who need a NoPhone; it is our mission to reduce that number to zero.

Breakthrough No Camera: The NoPhone rear camera indentation is perfectly crafted to resemble a high- resolution 4k camera people use to take pictures of their food. If you're feeling lost without your camera, simply rub your thumb over this circle and think about the video you made with your ex-boyfriend.

Completely Secure: Enjoy peace in your life knowing your bank account information and overall reputation within your community is protected. The NoPhone NoOS is designed to be 100% hacker resistant through removing the user's ability to enter and save any of their personal information.

Eternal Battery Life: When you open the box, you'll notice there is no charger. Although chargers have become a profit center for our competitors, the NoPhone doesn't need one. You'll never need to charge your NoPhone because it's just a piece of plastic and therefore doesn't have a battery.

And it's real, folks. No joke!

Buy it here.

Have a great week. We'll share the fun again next Monday.
