A Letter to Miss Busek
Only years after I left Sussex School did I begin to realize just how
special my elementary school had been for my classmates and me. I began
hearing stories from friends outside of Shaker Heights. They had a much
easier ride in elementary school... and they have been at a disadvantage
ever since. And of course, I read what is happening in schools today. I
can only imagine how I would have turned out had I had been enrolled in a
public school in the 21st century. I was not a troublemaker, but Mrs.
Kirsch [the principal] said I was flippant. Naturally, she was right. The
solution back then was consistent discipline and strict adherence to high
standards. If I had been a second-grader in 2005, I suppose there would
not have been enough Ritalin on earth to deal with me. Wrong answer! Of
course, you and I both know that.
Every day I use the lessons and principles I learned at Sussex
School. I don't know... some of my classmates may not remember them as
well as I do. It may not have been obvious at the time, but the attention
to detail and high standards that all of my Sussex School teachers set
made a deep and lasting impression on us. Stated simply, it worked. For
that, I am forever grateful.

Eye Remember... September 19, 1959:
"California Dreaming" -- indeed!
Though the land of fruits and nuts welcomed the soviet premier with open arms,
Nikita Khrushchev's wish upon a star -- to visit Disneyland -- was denied.
Seen here with Shirley Maclanie, Hollywood rolled out the red carpet on
September 19, 1959 for the Soviet leader. But the Disney people worried
about security, and denied his request to visit the Magic Kingdom.
It was a symbolic but solid victory for capitalism!
There was another victory for boomers on September 19, 1981, when Simon &
Garfunkel reunited for a free concert in Central Park. A half-million
people got to seem them in person, and millions more witnessed the
concert on television.
Another victory for our side.
What??? Did we miss National Cheeseburger Day?
Yes, we did. It was Sunday.
Curses, foiled again.
The BBHQ Bare-Bones Boomer
The BBHQ Official Baby Boomer Qualifying Exam contains some questions
that might stump some boomers. So we're working on developing a series of
questions that absolutely every boomer would know the answer, and
for which non-boomers would be left behind. Here is another one of our
7. “Look; up in the sky! It’s a bird. It’s a plane! It’s...”
my beautiful, my beautiful balloon
Rocky, the flying squirrel
Simple enough, huh? What other questions should we ask that would clearly
identify a boomer and yet stump the unfortunates masses? Please click

"My husband has never let me write, as he doesn't want me touching mens
pens. However, when I saw this product, I decided to buy it."
"Once I had learnt to write, the feminine colour and the grip has has
allowed me to vent thoughts about new recipes, gardening, and sewing. My
husband is less enthusiastic as he believes it will lead to more
independence and he hates the tingling sensation whenever he picks it
