BBHQ
Links here are good only for the week of August 7. After that... is anybody's guess.

Late again! We have no excuses. ("My dog ate my homework" just doesn't cut it a third time, does it?) We just goofed off this past weekend. That's all.

Our Upper this week was inspired by our "When the Music was Fun" essay.

No words (almost); just an upbeat tempo... and fun.

And yes; we'll keep this one up through Tuesday.

This Week with the Chicowitz

The First Date

At this point, we are the only two persons left in the entire complex! No music, no lights, no noise, no other people - just Martha, me, and 87 acres of deserted shops. It reminded me of those fabricated cities the Defense Department used to create just so they could nuke them. At this stage, I'm waiting for Rod Serling to walk out onto the terrace, look into a camera, and calmly say, "First dates and hell - they're one and the same.... in the twilight zone."

The BBHQ Trivia Teaser & Subscriber Evaluation
Here are three questions from the BBHQ cloud:

1. First, our current events question:
At the White House daily press briefing last week, CNN White House reporter Jim Acosta used the Emma Lazarus poem associated with the Statue of Liberty, "The New Colossus," ("Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free") as the basis for his objection to the proposed immigration law supported by President Trump. The Emma Lazarus poem was codified into law by an act of Congress in what year?

  1886
  1913
  1973
  1993
  2364
Go on; the Emma Lazarus poem has never been codified into law.

2. In "The Andy Griffith Show," Otis Campbell was which of the following:
school principal
auto mechanic
ambulance driver
school bus driver
town drunk
town mayor
security officer
bank dick
KKK grand wizard
EPA administrator
VA administrator
fire chief

3. We're going to focus on song titles using girls' names here in the trivia section... until... until we run out of girls. We have binders full of them.

This comes from a 1968 #1 song by Tom Jones.

I saw the light on the night that I passed by her window
I saw the flickering shadow of love on her blind
    She was my woman
As she deceived me I watched and went out of my mind

    My my my, _______
    Why why why, _______?
I could see, that girl was no good for me
But I was lost like a slave that no man could free

Who's the girl?

(Just when our well was running dry, we received several contributions from you folks. Thanks much. Can you think of any we have missed? Click reply; help keep this going.)
