Our House: Reclaiming the Past

This year, we're restoring the past... in a manner of speaking. We're trying to reclaim some of the charm of the BBHQ compound.

Mind you, we have no intention of restoring the compound to its “original state.”

We think its original state is Virginia; but that’s another story.

In the back yard I had installed a couple of posts and put up a hammock. Unfortunately my posts were not as sturdy as the flagpole we built back at Boy Scout Camp; one of them failed the first time Princess and I used the hammock this spring.

It is true; you can’t go back. But restoring things adds to the beauty of life; it brings order to a disorderly world, and provides a sense of stability to an unstable environment. Rekindle the memory; capture the feeling.

Eye Remember... July 25, 1978:

I remember July 25, 1978. It was the day we a new term entered our lexicon: in-vitro fertilization.

On July 25, 1978, the first baby born through the miracle of in vitro fertilization (IVF) made her debut.

Today, IVF is a standard medical procedure, disproving the old wife's tale that "you can't teach an old dog new tricks."

We saw this outside the entrance to a private club room on a Disney cruise ship. I donno if you can buy one, or if so, how much it would cost. But I gotta' have one!
