A BBHQ Insta-Quote:

If a nation values anything more than freedom, it will lose its freedom; and the irony of it is that if it is comfort or money that it values more, it will lose that too.

BBHQ Monday Morning Upper.

Today's Upper is another television commercial. Why would we dare to thrust one of those on you? Two reasons. First, becasue it is nostalgia and kinda' cute. And second because it provides interesting insight into the mindset and creativity of Madison Avenue in the 60s.

And the music behind the commercial... it became a hit song for the T-Bones. Ah, yes... the power of Madison Avenue.

And now, a word from our sponsor:

This month we celebrate... indeed, we cherish freedom at BBHQ.

America's Greatness: Free Peple; Free Markets

What is it that makes the United States the place to be, the country to which so many people flee... despite all the problems, all the criticisms, and the apologies of our misguided president?

Is it because the white people of America are so much superior to all others? Well, five years after they arrive here in the U.S., many non-white immigrants from Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, and elsewhere can run circles around white folks in math, science, history, and even spelling. That puts the white superiority myth to rest once and for all.

Put very simply, what makes America great is Freedom and Opportunity: Free People; Free Markets.

The United States was the first country that was founded, based not on a religion, or geographic conditions, or because of the size and strength of an army, but rather based on a belief. That is what makes America great. Free people; free markets. That is what keeps America great.

I Remember... June 15, 1215

OK; of course I do not remember June 15, 1215. But I remember well learning about what happened that day. On June 15, 1215, King John of England reluctantly stamped his seal of acceptance on the Magna Carta, the document which has served as the template for people's rights to govern themselves for 800 years.

The document, essentially a peace treaty between John and his barons, guaranteed that the king would respect feudal rights and privileges, uphold the freedom of the church, and maintain the nationís laws.

A big deal. A really big deal!
