Click the pic. Make life less painful for yourself.

OK, our sponsor is not TurboTax. But honestly, how did we survive without it? Not well, huh?

And why do we need any type of tax preparation assistance? Oh... another topic for another day.

But for now, it is what it is. Thank goodness there is TurboTax!

This Week with the Chicowitz

Remember When: Play Ball!

This week, Hershel remembers the beginning of a very special baseball season:

My favorite player was right-fielder, Rocky Colavito. In 1959, Rocky hit four home runs in four consecutive times at bat. Whew! Whatís not to idolize?

Well, it turns out... nothing. One spring day, at the close of spring training, my next-door neighbor, Bill Gerak, told me that his dad had invited Rocky Colavito to their house for lunch. Huh? Bill invited me over for a quick handshake, but I was to tell no one! Well, I kept my part of the bargain, but by the time Rocky arrived, there was a line down the driveway and halfway up the street.

There he was... in person, my idol, Rocky Colavito, sitting at a picnic table in my neighborís back yard. Thatís me, at the far end of the table, with my left-handerís glove. I had him autograph everything: my glove, my softball, my school notebook, my Indians T-shirt; my left buttock. (OK, Iím just kidding about the buttock thing. You know me better than that.)

I Remember... April 4, 1968:

1968 was a tumultuous year; and April 4 was like an earthquake.

On April 4, 1968, Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated at a motel in Memphis, Tennessee.

Fingerprints at the scene were traced to James Earl Ray, a convict who had escaped from prison. Ray confessed to the assassination, and was sentenced to 99 years in prison. Ray died in prison in 1998.

The BBHQ Trivia Teaser

Here are three questions from the BBHQ cloud:

1. First, our current events question:
Minimum wage, minimum wage... it's outrageous. It's a huge, national problem. It's a disaster. It is killing our country. We must fix it. So the politicians say.

Looking at the statistics, about how many people in the workforce are currently earning only (or less than) the federally mandated minimum wage?

      3 million
      15 million
      20 million
      22 million
      300 million

2. OK, smartie. What was the name of the motel in Memphis where Dr. Martin Luther King as assassinated? (Don't look it up!)

3. Sonny & Cher. We admit; we have no idea what Cher’s last name is. But Sonny... we all remember that, don’t we? What was it?

Grade our Newsletter. How did we do this week?
      A: Great! Lottsa' fun.

The BBHQ Joke of the Week

On the way back from a Cub Scout meeting, my grandson innocently said to my son, "Dad, I know babies come from mommies' tummies, but how do they get there in the first place?"

After my son hemmed and hawed awhile, my grandson finally spoke up in disgust, "You don't have to make up something, Dad. It's OK if you don't know the answer."

Have a great week. We'll share the fun again next Monday!
