A BBHQ Insta-Quote:

It takes a lot of time, understanding, and trust to gain a close friendship with someone. My friends are my most precious asset.

Links here are good only for the week of March 30, more or less. After that... is anybody's guess.

Remember when TV commercials were 2 minutes long? Remember when they were broadcast live? Remember when they were sorta’ fun to watch? Remember when TV was black and white?

This is most of a 2-minute TV commercial performed on live TV. What could go wrong?

Ahead of Our Time:

As we noted last week, we're heading up the road this weekend to judge a wet t-shirt contest in Panama City. (Well, somebody has to do it.)

So, we're ahead of schedule this week, will be absent next week (April 6), and may be late the following week (April 13). All in the line of duty, you know.

This Week with the Chicowitz

We're 65 -- Now What?

Look... there is nothing special about reaching age 65. If you’ve lived that long, there’s a good chance you’ll live to see 85. As boomers, we have never automatically followed the pattern of our ancestors (for better or worse). No reason to start now. In fact, there is every reason to forget the number 65, forget the notion of settling down and relying on the government for your well-being, and instead use your wisdom and experience to continue contributing to society in light of the fabulous riches this country has offered us for all of our lives.

The price for correcting the financial crisis before us may be staying in the workforce... you know, being a productive member of society... for a few more years than you had planned. That may turn out to be very good thing for you.

And... taking responsibility for your own health... it may mean walking five miles a week instead of sitting in front of the boob tube for five hours a day. It may behoove you to stop cramming Twinkies down your throat like there is no tomorrow. And that goes for your fat kids, too. That is not the federal government’s responsibility; that’s your responsibility.

Because... there is a tomorrow; lots of tomorrows; thousands more than any generation before us. If you rely on yourself instead of the federal government, it may well be thousands of better tomorrows.

I Remember... March 30, 1964

Actually, I don't remember much about March 30, 1964. But I do remember that in the music world, the Beatles were on top... not only in March, but throughout the year. On March 30th, the Beatles had 10 hits on Billboard's hot 100 list!

And that's all I have to say about that.

And now... a word from our sponsor:

The iArm Forearm Mount, a Velcro-like device that lets you attach virtually anything to your forearm.

In this crazy world, it does not seem much more bizarre than a lot of other junk out there. But relax; it is a gag gift. It is actually just an empty cardboard box. But you really can buy an empty cardboard box at Amazon.com - $6.99. That's the craziest part of all.

The BBHQ Trivia Teaser

Here are three questions from the BBHQ cloud:

1. First our current events question:
A creative elementary school teacher in Pennsylvania decided to use Double Stuff Oreo Cookies as a prop to teach her kids about the earth's tectonic plates. As a treat, she decided to allow the kids to eat the Oreo cookies at the end of the exercise. "Oh, no," said school officials; not without parental permission. So, the teacher had to send a letter to each parent asking them to sign a permission slip allowing their kid to eat an Oreo cookie.
Have we gone off tectonic edge of all common sense? Is this true or false?
      True
      False

2. A well-known musical group was originally known as "CTA," but the name was quickly reduced to a single word. What did "CTA" stand for?

3. Sonny Bono was killed in a skiing accident in 1998. What was he doing at the time of his death?
He was the anchor of the NBC Nightly News.
He was reconciling with Cher.
He was reconciling with Lady Gaga.
He was the host of "The Gong Show."
He was the host of "Those Amazing Pets."
He was getting ready to punch out Greg Allman.
He was an astronaut aboard the space shuttle.
He was the mayor of Los Angeles.
He was a member of Congress.
He was inventing the Internet.
He was looking for the real killers and Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.

There are no prizes here... it's just for fun.
