Click the pic. Make life less painful for yourself.

OK, our sponsor is not TurboTax. But honestly, how did we survive without it? Not well, huh?

And why do we need any type of tax preparation assistance? Oh... another topic for another day.

But for now, it is what it is. Thank goodness there is TurboTax!

This Week with the Chicowitz

Mr. Brownthumb

Down near the end of the driveway there was a large palm tree. You know, the things for which Florida is famous. They are all over.

But not at the end of my driveway.

I donno; it happened over time. It was fine; then one day I noticed it listing a bit. And the next thing I knew, it looked like Rosie O’Donnell had used it as a punching bag.

The next winter, it was firewood. (Yes, some of us do have fireplaces down here. And some of us actually use them. Though we usually have to run the A/C for a few hours first.)

I Remember... March 28, 1979:

I remember March 28, 1979...

It began as a lead story on the news... a small amount of cooling water had leaked from a nuclear energy reactor in Pennsylvania. But it took several days for officials to acknowledge that we had come dangerously close to a nuclear power plan meltdown: the China syndrome.

President Carter came to the scene and gave the plant his blessing. Crisis averted. But it was the end of the line for nuclear power plants in the U.S. Not a single plant has been constructed in the U.S. since 1979.

The BBHQ Trivia Teaser

Here are three questions from the BBHQ cloud:

1. First, our current events question:
A few months back, students at Emory University in Atlanta wrote "black lives matter" in chalk on several buildings and sidewalks on campus. No attempt was made to find or discipline the culprits. Accept that as fact.

But last week someone wrote "Trump 2016" in chalk in several locations. As a knee-jerk reaction, several students claimed that seeing Trump’s name on the sidewalk confirmed that they were “unsafe” at Emory. “We are in pain,” one student said at a rally. “I don’t deserve to feel afraid at my school,” a second student reportedly said.

“I legitimately feared for my life,” a freshman who identifies as Latino told The Daily Beast. Another student told the publication, “Some of us were expecting shootings. We feared walking alone.”

Sure enough, Emory President Jim Wagner penned an open letter to students promising to create "a formal process to institutionalize identification, review, and addressing of social justice opportunities and issues."

      Yep; I believe it.
No; now you have gone too far. This is a gross exaggeration... a fabrication... this could not happen at one of America's premier institutions of higher education, free speech, and critical thinking.

2. Speaking of Three Mile Island... how many people died as a result of the near meltdown at Three Mile Island in 1979?
      0
      3
      30
      125
      All of them

3. Gold-finger... he's the man, the man with the Midas touch. Appropriately enough, what was Goldfinger's first name.

The BBHQ Joke of the Week

We were at first hesitant to post this; it is a wee bit excessively cutting. But then we came up with a title for it. The title balances it out.

We call this one Unpoetic Justice:

A husband was in big trouble because he forgot his wedding anniversary.

His wife told him, "Tomorrow there better be something in the driveway for me that goes zero to 200 in 2 seconds flat."

The next morning the wife found a small package in the driveway. She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale.

Funeral arrangements for the husband have been set for Thursday.

See... justice, unpoetically so.

Have a great week. We'll share the fun again next Monday!
