OK, our sponsor is not TurboTax. But honestly, how did we survive without it? Not well, huh?

And why do we need any type of tax preparation assistance? Oh... another topic for another day.

But for now, it is what it is. Thank goodness there is TurboTax!

This Week with the Chicowitz

Sinatra: The Chairman of the Board

Then the lights dimmed and an announcer said... “Ladies and gentlemen... Frank Sinatra.” And out he walked.

Just a spotlight, a small orchestra, a platform, and a microphone. He looked up at all of us, smiled, and with one gesture, with one turn of the head, but without ever opening his mouth, he said, “OK, folks; you’re mine now; all mine. I gottcha’, and I’m going to keep you for as long as I want.”

And that is exactly what he did.

I don’t know how he did it; I don’t know exactly what he did. There were no laser lights, no fancy effects, no decorative backdrop, no 40-foot speakers, no backup singers, not even a mosh pit. It was just Sinatra.

I Remember... March 14:

On March 14, 1958, Perry Como was awarded his first gold record for "Catch a Falling Star."

Exactly a decade later, the last episode of the TV version of "Batman" aired on ABC.

"Batman" lasted 3 years on network TV... and forever in syndication.

The BBHQ Trivia Teaser

Here are three questions from the BBHQ cloud:

1. First, our current events question:
During testimony before Congress last week, Attorney General Loretta Lynch acknowledged that her justice department had made a referral to the FBI to investigate whether civil charges could (could, not should) be pursued against corporate "climate deniers."
      Yep; just like you said.
No; that is just too bizarre. No.

2. From the 1-hit wonder department, German pianist Horst Jankowski had a Billboard top-20 hit in 1965 with a song called "A Walk in the Forest."

3. Pi - When I was in high school, I memorized Pi to 10 decimal positions. Today, I'll ask you just for the first 2. Pi is 3..

In case you are interested... pi is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, And in case you are really, really interested... Pi cannot be expressed exactly as a fraction (equivalently, its decimal representation never ends and never settles into a permanent repeating pattern). The digits appear to be randomly distributed; however, to date, no proof of this has been discovered. Also, Pi is a transcendental number -- a number that is not the root of any non-zero polynomial having rational coefficients. This transcendence of Pi implies that it is impossible to solve the ancient challenge of squaring the circle with a compass and straightedge.

The BBHQ Joke of the Week

A mathematician, a physicist, and an engineer are all given identical, engineered steel balls and assigned to find the volume. They are given any tools they want, and have all the time they need.

The mathematician uses a measuring tape to record the circumference. He then divides by two times pi to get the radius, cubes that, multiplies by pi again, and then multiplies by four-thirds and thereby calculates the volume.

The physicist gets a bucket of water, places 1.000000 gallons of water in the bucket, drops in the ball and measures the displacement to six significant figures.

The engineer writes down the serial number of the ball and looks it up online.

Have a great week. We'll share the fun again next Monday!
