A BBHQ Insta-Quote:

The ultimate economic and spiritual unit of any civilization is the family.

Links here are good only for the week of February 23. After that... is anybody's guess.

BBHQ Monday Morning Upper.

Today we celebrate one of the most underrated... special calendar events, National Brotherhood Week.

New Meaning to the
Boston "Big Dig":

We have a whole shovel-full of "big dig" pictures and a video which redefines "insanity"

The Mixer - A Singles Story

I arrived fashionably late, but eager and enthusiastic. As soon as my friend guided me into the living room, however, I sensed that something was wrong.

Steve introduced me: "Friends, this is Hershel." They all looked up, smiled broadly, and replied in unison, "Hi, Hershel!"

It reminded me of what I imagined an AA meeting to be like. I had to bite my lip to keep from replying, "Hi, I'm Hershel; and I'm a fat loser."

A Few of Our Favorite Things

I Remember... February 23, 1954

I remember being shot on February 23, 1954. But it was a good shot -- the Salk polio vaccination.

Nationwide vaccinations against polio began on February 23, 1954. An incurable disease feared world-wide was wiped out... virtually eliminated... just in time for the boomer generation.

If miracles really do exist, this was surely one of them.

The BBHQ Trivia Teaser

Here are three questions from the BBHQ cloud:

1. First our current events question:
During a recent televised interview, a correspondent for a major television news organization asked Attorney General Holder, "Would you quack for us?"
Which network was that?
      ABC
      CBS
      NBC
      PBS
      CNN
      CNN Headline News
      Fox News
      MSNBC
      OWN
      The Home Shopping Network
      TruTV
      SciFi
      Nickelodeon
Go on; you're just making that up.

2. Now to the real stuff: Though it is not widely syndicated at present, most boomers remember the Flintstones: Fred and Barney; Wilma and... and... and what was Barney's wife's first name?

3. "When E.F. Hutton talks, ."

There are no prizes here... it's just for fun.

The BBHQ Joke of the Week

No dictionary has ever been able to satisfactorily define the difference between "complete" and "finished." But at a European conference, one attendee posed this question to the lead speaker:

"Some say there is no difference between complete and finished. Please explain the difference in a way that is easy to understand."

The speaker replied, "When you marry the right woman, you are complete. If you marry the wrong woman, you are finished. And, if the right one catches you with the wrong one, you are 'Completely finished.'"

The speaker received a five-minute. standing ovation.

Brush Up Your Webster - featuring Madam Red Dot

In the future, your smartphone may be smart... very smart. But it will not be primarily a phone. So our search for the replacement name for the "smartphone" continues. Keep at it, please.

Use your e-mail software (that's where you are now), click reply and let us know. Nope; this is not a contest. But imagine how much fame came to the guy who thought of... "Overseas Contingency Operation."

Misplaced Trust:

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office spent several thousand taxpayer dollars for a large, attractive flooring piece in the lobby of the sheriff's office. But more than one public school graduate did not look closely enough before installation:

So... brush up your Webster!

Have a great week. We'll share the fun again next Monday.
