What do campus microaggressions, safe spaces, trigger warnings, speech codes and censorship have to do with higher learning?    ~ Victor Davis Hanson

There was a pretty good live version of “Grease” on TV last week. But we’re partial to the 1978 movie. Here’s our favorite musical number from the show.

Everybody’s Got a Story

Recently, my sister gave me a diary that my dad kept during the war. He made an entry nearly every day between Saturday, June 10, 1942 and Thursday, January 4, 1945. The real surprising part is that my mother and sister had this diary in their possession for over 30 years... and I never knew about it. But that’s another story. Anyway, it is a wonderful memoir of the war as my father lived it, and a priceless piece of our family history.

My dad's diary provided me with the inspiration to tell my story. I'm no one special. But I'm sure that some of my relatives, somewhere down the line, will find it interesting to read my take on the exciting times in which I have lived.

The boomer years was a fabulous time to grow up. We all have terrific experiences and wonderful stories to tell. Indeed, many of the boomers who write to us say they would like some day to put their stories "on paper," but.... But what?

So what about you? Surely you have a story to tell. What are you waiting for?

I Remember... February 8, 1969

I remember February 8, 1969. On that date, the last bi-weekly issue of one of the country's leading magazines was published.

The failure of the bi-weekly edition of the SE Post should have served as a warning to mainstream publishers. Life, Time, and Newsweek, as printed periodicals, would fail over the next 40 years... for better or worse.

Meanwhile, at the movies, we went to see Sweet Charity, The Love Bug, and The Night They Raided Minsky's.

The BBHQ Trivia Teaser

Here are three questions from the BBHQ cloud:

1. First, our current events question:

      Trump is richer
      Trump is more malleable
      Trump is more fiscally responsible

Trump will be tougher with the Iranians

2. As advertised in the 60s, what was marketed as "the next best thing to being there" - (2 words)?

3. Who played the part of The Joker in the 60s TV version of Batman?

There are no prizes here... it's just for fun.

The BBHQ Joke of the Week

"What did you learn in school today, dear?"

"We learned about music. The teacher drew a curlicue on the board."

"Did she call it a 'treble clef'?"

"Yeah. Then she drew some lines and asked me to come up and draw a note on the lines."

"What did you do?"

"I wrote, 'Dear Aunt Emma, just a short note to tell you I'm fine.'"

Have a great week. We'll share the fun next Monday.
