The Upper and the Real Deal
The BBHQ Monday Morning Upper

Do Ya' Think I’m Sexy?

This is either hysterically funny (as the BBHQ Upper should be), or horribly stupid and not worth 2 minutes (or even 15 seconds) of your time.

Naturally, we lean toward the former.

Rules of the Road: Each week this month, we'll remind you of some of the rules of the road at BBHQ.

The BBHQ Newsletter is a free publication available to anyone with an Internet connection. If someone charges you money for your newsletter, you've paid too much. If someone charges you a tax for this newsletter... it's probably the government.

The newsletter should arrive in your in-box between midnight and 10 am. Sometimes there is a traffic jam on the Information Superhighway, and some newsletters may not arrive until later in the day.

We do not use a 3d party newsletter service to mail our newsletters. We control the distribution of our newsletter ourselves. (Too often, 3d party services sell your e-mail address to spammers.) No one outside of BBHQ has access to our newsletter address database. (Well, maybe the NSA, and maybe the Russians... but...)

The BBHQ Monday Morning Upper is a short video of interest or amusement for members of the baby boomer generation. It is available free of charge to all subscribers to our newsletter on Mondays only.

The link to the BBHQ Monday Morning Upper is contained within the newsletter. However, the link is always the same: http://www.bbhq.us/monday.php?nl. You can save it as a "favorite" in your Internet browser.

Regardless of when your newsletter arrives, the BBHQ Monday Morning Upper is available from 2 am, Monday until 2 am Tuesday (eastern time.)

Flashback: 29 Reasons to Oppose Obamacare

BBHQ is all about nostalgia. Usually we flash back to the 60s and 70s. But this week, we think it is appropriate to go back only as far as 2010, when Hershel explained why opposing Obamacare was so logical. This is not an “I told you so” essay. But what was obvious then is all the more obvious now. Now it is time for Congress to roll up its sleeves and fix what they messed up seven years ago.

We went into Obamacare “eyes wide shut.” It has cost us a trillion dollars, and health insurance and health care today is far more messed up now that it was in 2010. Remember: in 2010, 70% of Americans were satisfied with their health care plan. What do you suppose that number is seven years and a trillion dollars later?

Eye Remember... January 16, 1964:

Well, Hello Dolly!

It was one of the best of the great musicals of the 20th century. On January 16, 1964, "Hello Dollly" premiered on Broadway. It was the first of over 2,800 performances. At the time, it was the longest running musical in American history.

Of course, over half a century later, "Hello Dolly" is still a delightful part of our culture.

We are so very, very fortunate!

And now, a word from our sponsor:

Not sure what they're selling... but we're buying!

This year we are replacing the BBHQ Christmas Wish List with courses available at Prager University, an online institution of higher learning with a unique difference all the courses are five minutes long.

There are no degrees, but there are also no tuition fees. That's right; the dozens of courses at Prager University are all free of charge and available to anyone with an Internet connection.

This week we feature the course titled, "Is America's Tax System Fair?" .

The courses are thought-provoking, interesting, informative, and extremely well done. The home page for Prager University is here .

We'll feature a different course every week.

The BBHQ Joke of the Week
We have a 2-fer this week. The first is a quip from Dolly Parton:

"After Mama gave birth to 12 of us kids, we put her up on a pedestal. It was mostly to keep Daddy away from her."

And this:

A newly hired nurse listened while the doctor was yelling: "Typhoid! Tetanus! Measles!"

She asked another nurse, "Why is he going on like that?"

The veteran nurse replied, "Oh, he just likes to call the shots around here."

Have a great week. We'll share the fun again next Monday.
