We have a collection of lyrics to some of the best and most interesting songs of the 50s, 60s, and early and mid 70s. Our purpose is to bring back some memories, perhaps settle a few bets, and allow your kids to compare the words of our songs to the lyrics of what passes for rock today.

Newbies (non-members) can view lyrics to only a limited number of songs. BBHQ members have unlimited access to our lyrics collection.

Old Friends Live on Stage (Deluxe Edition) (2 CD/1 DVD)
"Old Friends Live on Stage (Deluxe Edition) (2 CD/1 DVD)," 55 songs: 2 CDs and a DVD from their 2003 concert tour.

Nothing serious here. This is just a short series of observations and ruminations of a delightful boomer. Yep; this book will make most of us, especially those of us who grew up in the 60s, feel right at home. This will make a great gift for any boomer in your life. Click here to make it yours.

We've got some of the classics, some of the silly ones, and a few from the 90s that have the boomer spirit. (But don't expect to find anything by Puff Daddy or the Spice Girls here.) So if you want to capture the "flavor" of what was on our mind back then, turn off the radio, sit back, and take a trip back in time...

In order to be a hit (in my book), a song has to have a good beat. You can't appreciate many of the songs from our youth without listening to them. In some cases, the words to a hit song - all by themselves - sound downright goofy. (Consider Buddy Holly's Peggy Sue: "Peggy Sue... Peggy Sue... pretty, pretty, pretty Peggy Sue. Oh, Peggy... my Peggy Sue.") And some of my favorites are instrumentals; you can hum along and tap your foot, but there are no words to Mason Williams' "Classical Gas."

But sometimes the lyrics alone were enough to make a song memorable. This section of BBHQ shows why.

We have lyrics to over 750 songs (although our Oldies Vault contains the names of more than 4,000 songs). You can request the lyrics to a song that is not in our collection; we're adding more every month. And you can provide lyrics to your favorite songs; if it was a top-40 hit in the U.S., we'll add it to our collection.

Source of our lyrics:

Experience has taught us that there may be several versions of the lyrics to a song:
    1. The version, as penned by the song writer.
    2. The version in the artist's songbook and/or liner notes to an album.
    3. The first popular version to make it as a (single) hit.
    4. The first popular version, as recorded on an album. (i.e. Charlie Daniels Band's "Devil Went Down to Georgia" -- the single and album versions are different.)
    5. Versions recorded by other artists or re-recorded by the original artist.
    6. Versions passed down by the masses (i.e. "Louie, Louie")

Yes, versions 2, 3 and 4 may be slightly different.

At BBHQ, we always try to show number 3, since that is the version that most of us remember.
